power center and other new transformations related to data quality. These plans can be integrated with power center mappings to schedule the
job. In Informatica 9, Informatica data quality (IDQ) has been further integrated with the Informatica Platform and performance, manageability and reusability have all been significantly enhanced.

·    Navigate the Developer Tool and collaborate on projects with Analysts using the Analyst Tool

·    Perform Column, Rule, Join, Multi object and Mid-Stream Profiling

·    Manage reference tables in the Analyst Tool

·    Design and develop Mapplets.

·    Create standardization, cleansing and parsing routines

·    Validate addresses

·    Identify duplicate records

·    Build mappings used to associate and consolidate matched records

Informatica Analyst :-

This  utility is browser-based tool empowers line-of-business managers, data stewards, and business analysts to easily participate in data quality improvement without the need of IT Intervention . Informatica analyst enables data profiling and analysis and it creates  data quality scorecards with the flexibility to filter  and drill down on specific records for better detection of problems.

Informatica Developer & Informatica Analyst [Both]:-
The ability to define rules and view and run profiles is available in both the Informatica developer (Thick client) and Informatica analyst (browser based tool-Thin client).
These tools sit on a unified metadata infrastructure. Both tools incorporate security features like authentication and authorization ensuring. The developer tool is now eclipse based and supports both data integration and data quality for enhanced productivity. It provides browser based tool for analysts to support the types of tasks they engage in, such as profiling data, specifying and validating rules & monitoring data quality.

Some commonality between Informatica 8.x an 9.x series :-

·         Informatica 9 is the integrated product with all the features of Data  quality ,Data  explorer along with conventional Power Center.
In 9.x Power center is same as 8.x series. The only difference is addition of Data quality and Data explore in same domain.
Informatica Analyst tool is thin client which is equivalent to Informatica Data Explorer.

·        Informatica Developer is thick client tool which is equivalent to IDQ.
Both Analyst and Developer save their metadata in Model repository service.

·         This is new java based Repository service got introduced in 9.x
Developer tool got some additional functionality of basic profiling features and few more.
